There are many ways to check SASSA status, like the Moya app, WhatsApp, and the SASSA mobile app. However, these methods are only available for internet-active users. But if a SASSA applicant wants to check the SASSA status without the internet, then USSD code is the way. With the help of USSD code, the grant applicants can check the application status on their simple mobile phones. They don’t need anything like Android or iOS phones. They don’t need to have an internet connection, airtime, or web browsers to perform the SASSA status check. Now let’s check out how to use this method to get your SRD application status without using any internet or airtime. The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) provides a USSD code for checking the SRD (Social Relief of Distress) grant status. SASSA uses three USSD codes for SRD status checks: Dial *120*69277# Dial *134*7737# Dial *120*3210# How to Check SASSA Status Using USSD Code? So now let's find out the method to check the SASSA status using the USSD code. 1) Get Your Mobile Phone in Your Hand: The first step is to grab your phone in your hand so you can start the checking process. Make sure your phone has enough battery and good network signals before you check your grant status. 2) Dial SASSA USSD Code: Now you need to dial the SASSA USSD code on your phone. You can choose any of the following codes: Dial *120*69277# Dial *134*7737# Dial *120*3210# 3) Choose Menu Option “5” Once you dial the code, you will see a menu appear on your screen. You need to choose the menu option number “5” that will be the SRD status check option. 4) Type Your ID and Phone Number Now you need to enter your phone number and South African ID number on the next page. Once you enter both details, press the “Yes” button and submit the details. 5) Get Your Status via SMS Now, after 1 or 2 minutes, you will receive an SMS from SASSA that will inform you about your SRD grant application status. How to Check SASSA Balance Status Using USSD Code? If you want to check your grant balance, then you need to check out the USSD code of your bank. Only those who are receiving the SRD payment via bank transfer can check the SASSA balance with the USSD code. Here is how to do it: Find the USSD code for your bank. For example: TymeBank: *120*543# Capitec Bank: *120*3279# Nedbank: *120*001# Open your phone’s dialer. Dial the USSD code of your bank. Select the “Balance Inquiry” option from the menu. Wait for a message from your bank with your current balance. This method works for those who receive their SASSA payments directly into their bank accounts.
